For patients and families

Your first
visit

Everything you need before your first lymphedema visit — insurance, referrals, what to bring, and exactly what happens when you arrive. Haven’t booked yet? You can request an evaluation yourself.

Need a referral?

Not to ask. If your plan requires a physician order, we contact your doctor for you.

Insurance checked?

Yes — intake verifies your coverage before your visit, not after.

What to bring?

Photo ID and your insurance card. Full packing list below.

At your evaluation

What happens, in order

Your first visit is an evaluation, not treatment. A certified lymphedema therapist works through four steps, then explains your findings and your written care plan.

1

History

Your swelling, your health history, and any surgery, radiation, infection or injury that may have affected your lymphatic system.

2

Skin and tissue assessment

How the swelling behaves, the condition of your skin, and how the tissue has changed.

3

Limb measurements

Your starting point, recorded so progress can be tracked visit to visit.

4

Your care plan

Findings explained in plain language, and how treatment would proceed — including what maintenance looks like.

Treated at home or in a care community instead of a clinic? The evaluation is identical — your therapist brings it to you. New to the condition itself? Read what is lymphedema first.

Insurance and referrals

What insurance is accepted?

Coverage for lymphedema treatment depends on your specific plan — so rather than publish a list that might not match your policy, we verify your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly what your plan covers, before you are scheduled.

How verification works

When you request an evaluation, intake calls you, takes your insurance details, verifies coverage, and flags anything your plan requires.

Do I need a referral?

Not to request an evaluation. If your plan requires a physician order before treatment, our intake team contacts your doctor for you — you don’t have to chase it.

Ready when you are
